Aquaponics Incubator Farm

Planting Justice's Aquaponics Incubator farm represents the culmination of a 12-year long dream for the organization. Just 100' down the block from PJ's 2-acre nursery on 105th Avenue in Sobrante Park, Deep East Oakland, this resident-led farm will build a replicable and scalable model for sustainable food production in the harshest of conditions. In a community that is deprived of clean topsoil, clean air, healthy food, and dignified living-wage jobs,

The Good Table

In collaboration with the Good Table United Church of Christ, Planting Justice and our progressive church partners purchased the historic Adachi nursery site in El Sobrante, saving this historic site from being turned into a gas station, and beginning renovation of the gorgeous building and grounds for a highly innovative project unlike any that has been done before! With construction currently underway, The Good Table is set to open in mid-2023 as the nation's first combined "pay-what-you-can" cafe,

Farm Funding Update

Dear Planting Justice community,

We are deeply grateful to every single person who has been sharing donations, well wishes, and volunteer offerings in the wake of the tragic fire PJ experienced at the El Sobrante Mother Orchard this past year. Like many of the trees on the land that bounced back with resilient new growth, PJ is excited to replant the farm with low-chill, climate resilient, rare/heirloom, medicinal and edible tree crops, with you!

Aquaponics Incubator Farm

Planting Justice's Aquaponics Incubator farm represents the culmination of a 12-year long dream for the organization. This resident-led farm will build a replicable and scalable model for sustainable food production in the harshest of conditions. In a community that is deprived of clean topsoil, clean air, healthy food, and dignified living-wage jobs, like so many communities throughout the U.S., this project will demonstrate how to grow an abundance of organic produce with just a fraction of the water needed for in-ground growing, and open source that technology to support East Oakland residents in acquiring their own land and owning their own aquaponics farms to achieve neighborhood scale food sovereignty, community self determination, and holistic wellness. Given the climate emergency threatening agriculture itself, this project is literally one of survival.

We understand that not everyone can make monetary donations but you can donate your time at the nursery or farm
